Keep sailing!

There's a story that's been going around NLP* circles for a while, and it goes like this... Imagine you are in a sailboat or ship, sailing from one port to another. You've set your course and things are going smoothly. From time to time you check to make sure you're still on course. But then, you realize that the ship is off course! You're now heading in a slightly different direction. If you continue on this course, you will not reach your destination. What do you do? Do you sink the boat? Of course not. You make slight adjustments to your headings, and you continue sailing. But after a while, you check and, once again, your little boat is off course. Oh no! What do you do? Do you sink the boat? Of course not. You make slight adjustments and go on. It's like that with any goal in life. From time to time you may find that you are off course, that you are headed in a completely different direction. Now, if that's where you want to be, keep going. Sometimes a new heading will lead you into undiscovered waters. But if that heading isn't toward your goal, are you going to sink the boat? Make slight adjustments and keep sailing. And now we come to art. You have it in your head that you want to be proficient in some art form. Right now, you see that your present abilities are lacking in some way. Should you sink the boat? No. Make adjustments and... KEEP SAILING! *NLP = Neuro Linguistic Programming. For further information, see:
