If you are not familiar with the work of Lisa Clough, I highly recommend that you look her up.

She has tremendous vitality. In addition to producing several videos each week, she is very active on all kinds of social media (active = comments!), provides regular helpful advice for artists who want to improve their work, and she hosts the weekly Colored Pencil Podcast with John Middick. Oh, she also does her own art work.

Lisa works in many mediums, but her favorite might be colored pencils, and she is excelled in this. She produces realistic portraits of people and animals, and her pieces always have a genuine and gentle quality about them.

She has a Facebook group, and she gives monthly challenges for the members. Participants can upload their finished pieces for comments. Some of the work you'll find there is absolutely fabulous. The members also encourage beginning~intermediate artists, answer questions, discuss techniques, and offer advice based on their experience. Overall, I've had a good experience with this group. You can also become a supporter on Patreon.com. If you do, you will have access to Lisa's longer, slower, and more detailed videos on how she produces her artwork - well worth it if you are serious about developing your technique.

The thing I like most about Lisa is her never-ending encouragement of beginning artists to try A N Y T H I N G to see how it works, to see if they like it, and to push them to delve deeper. Her vast experience with many styles and mediums helps her to give useful advice on pencils, paper, and other supplies, as well as specific techniques to make your art work more outstanding.
