A lot of artists, especially those just starting out, become discouraged because what they are producing is, in their eyes, rubbish. That's a good thing. It's called "taste".
One of my favorite videos to watch when I feel discouraged is Ira Glass on Storytelling. The video speaks to anyone who is creative.

A quote I also remind myself of often is one by Steven Pressfield, the author of The War of Art. In it, he writes:
"If you find yourself asking yourself (and your friends) 'Am I really a writer? Am I really an artist?' chances are you are. The counterfeit innovator is wildly self-confident. The real one is scared to death."
